A nursing home in Wilkes County is dealing with a break out of at least 93 coronavirus cases.The Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilkesboro has 34 staff members and 59 residents who have checked positive for the infection, according to a report from the Wilkes County Health Department.On Wednesday, the health department said reported that the 16th person to pass away from the virus in their neighborhood was a citizen of Westwood Hills.The individual was a person in their 70s who had hidden health conditions, officials said.This individual is the 5th person from the centers break out to pass away from the coronavirus. “On behalf of the Wilkes County Local Health Department and Government, we extend our deepest sympathy to the household,” county health director Rachel Willard said.

State health officials specify an outbreak as 2 verified cases within a long-term care center.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Wilkes County has actually reported 854 verified cases of the virus.
There are currently five people who are hospitalized in Wilkes County.
