Michigan reports 2,843 new coronavirus cases, 20 deaths over 2-day period – Detroit Free Press

The Michigan health department reported 2,843 new coronavirus cases since Saturday, averaging 1,422 new daily cases. This brings the state to 538,377 total confirmed cases.

Another 20 COVID-19 related deaths were also confirmed Monday. This brings Michigan’s death toll to 13,824.

As of Sunday, Michigan has shipped 1,049,575 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and has administered 487,959, 46.5% of those shipped.

There are nine new school-related outbreaks accounting for 44 cases, according to the update released Monday. There are 51 ongoing outbreaks accounting for 6,427 cases. The largest new outbreak — 14 cases — was at Lake Superior State University. Another large outbreak — 10 cases — was reported at Hastings High School in Barry County.

Of 30,560 diagnostic tests reported Sunday, 1,958 yielded positive results — a positivity rate of 6.4%.

Included in Monday’s report were 46,751 probable cases and 862 probable deaths, for a total of 585,128 cases and 14,686 deaths.
